More than five million children in China live with a disability, the majority in rural areas that often lack a culture of inclusion or the resources to support special needs. World Vision’s work with special needs children in China promotes their full, equal and meaningful participation in society, and ensures that they have positive and healthy relationships at home and in their communities.

Our goal: Strengthen rehabilitation, education and social worker services to overcome obstacles that keep children with disabilities from meaningful participation in society.
Our work:
Build capacity of childcare and social workers to care for children with disabilities, and support them with suitable medical, rehabilitation and educational resources.
Train childcare and social workers about child protection and safeguarding practices.
Support welfare institutions to establish barrier-free accessibility for all children.
Loving & Nurturing Environment
Our goal: Provide a nurturing environment for children with disabilities so they are loved, accepted and valued.
Our work:
Provide positive parenting trainings.
Care for the well-being of caregivers through the formation of peer groups, and connect them with social worker services.
Support families to use suitable assistive aid, create safe and barrier-free living environments to help rehabilitate and educate children with disabilities.
Inclusive Environment
Our goal: Promote inclusive environments in schools and communities.
Our work:
Support community activities to raise awareness about the causes and characteristics of different special needs, increasing understanding and reducing stigmatization against disabilities.
