FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who is World Vision?
World Vision is a Christian, child-focused relief, development and advocacy organization that focuses on helping the most vulnerable children and their communities overcome poverty and experience fullness of life. Founded in 1950, World Vision currently operates in over 100 countries and regions, impacting the lives of over 200 million children.
How does World Vision help those in need?
World Vision serves the most vulnerable children and communities through:
Transformational Development
World Vision believes development should be transformational, community-based, and sustainable, with a focus on the needs of children. We work alongside families, local, national, and global partners—as well as with children and youth themselves—to bring about change that enables them to break free from the cycle of poverty. Most of our projects aim to help communities become self-reliant through initiatives such as health improvement, access to clean water, sustainable livelihoods and resilience, education, and child protection.
Emergency Response
Before a disaster strikes, World Vision works with children, families, and communities to reduce their vulnerability, improve preparedness, and equip them with the knowledge to respond effectively.
In the aftermath of a disaster, our response team delivers life-saving aid such as temporary shelter, food supplies, clean drinking water, and psychosocial support—especially for children.
After immediate needs are met, we stay and focus on recovery to help children and their families rebuild their lives.
Advocacy
World Vision engages in advocacy and global campaigns to mobilize, amplify, and harness voices at the local, national, and international levels to create lasting and sustainable change for children.

Who benefits from World Vision China’s projects?
World Vision is committed to supporting the most vulnerable girls and boys, who are at the center of our work and decisions.
In China, we partner with the government, civil society organizations, academic institutions, community leaders, parents, and caregivers to create lasting and impactful change for vulnerable children—including left-behind and migrant children, children with disabilities, and children affected by disasters.
How does World Vision China implement and manage its projects?
Partnerships
Partnering is a core part of World Vision’s approach. We believe that collaboration and valuing diverse perspectives and methods can broaden our impact.
In China, we work with various partners—including government bodies, civil society organizations, corporations, and academic institutions—to effectively mobilize expertise, funding, and resources. We also build the capacity of local organizations to better serve children.
On-site Monitoring
To ensure project quality and the effective use of funds, World Vision projects are organized, implemented, and monitored by our staff or qualified local partners. The dedication and integrity of both World Vision and local NGO staff play a key role in the success of our work.
Community Participation and Sustainable Development
World Vision empowers communities, families, and children to plan and manage their own transformation. We build local capacity and leadership and connect them with local governments, community-based organizations, and the private sector.
Our ultimate aim is to help communities become self-reliant, increasing ownership of their development as World Vision gradually steps back.
Where does World Vision China receive its funding?
World Vision China and its work are supported by World Vision offices worldwide, with more than 80% of funding raised through donations from Hong Kong.
