Senior Relationship Manager / Relationship Manager

This position plays a critical role in delivering World Vision China’s Resource Development strategy by leading efforts to grow, diversify, and sustain a strong pipeline of High Net Worth Individual (HNWI) donors. The role is responsible for achieving both financial and non-financial targets by working strategically to identify, initiate, and build donor opportunities through best-practice major gift fundraising. It requires applying high-level networking, executive communication, and relationship management skills to ensure a high-quality supporter journey and experience, while engaging in a range of business development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & Planning – Lead the design and development of a Strategic Roadmap for HNWI engagement.

  • Donor Engagement – Develop a “Circle of Friends” donor advisory group and implement tailored engagement strategies using moves management methodologies.

  • Partnership Development – Build strategic relationships with philanthropy and wealth management bodies, businesses, and networks.

  • Supporter Journey – Ensure authentic, long-term supporter engagement that deepens commitment to World Vision China’s mission.

  • Operational Management – Oversee annual planning, budgeting, and implementation activities.

  • Team Leadership – Supervise, guide, and strengthen the donor development team’s capacity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Minimum 5 years’ managerial experience in major donor fundraising with proven success engaging HNWI donors.

  • Strong track record of generating significant fundraising income.

  • Excellent relationship-building and management skills, with the ability to inspire and sustain new partnerships.

  • In-depth knowledge of relationship-based fundraising and the donor landscape in Hong Kong, China.

  • Experience with donor/customer databases for analysis and reporting.

  • High Emotional Intelligence and adaptability in diverse interpersonal contexts.

  • Strong computer literacy (CRM systems, MS Office Suite, email, calendar).

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional structure.

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese & Putonghua) and English.

  • Based in Hong Kong. Willingness to travel up to 15% (Mainland China & international).

Candidates with less experience will be considered for Manager / Assistant Manager roles.

  • Circle of Friends – Coordinate logistics and communications for the donor advisory group.

  • Income Contribution – Contribute to individual and team fundraising targets.

  • Partnership Development – Support the development and maintenance of strategic relationships with philanthropy and wealth management bodies.

  • Donor Engagement – Coordinate donor activities, including meetings, events, and field visits.

  • Engagement Strategies – Assist in implementing tailored engagement strategies for major supporters using moves management tools.

  • Supporter Journey – Track and document supporter engagement to ensure consistency and authenticity.

  • Operational Support – Assist with annual planning, budgeting, data consolidation, and tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Proven experience in donor fundraising within not-for-profit organizations:

    • Officer level: minimum 3 years

    • Senior Officer level: 5 years or above

  • Strong relationship-building and management skills, with the ability to inspire supporters, initiate and sustain new relationships, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

  • Experience in developing donor relationships and engagement strategies that deliver results.

  • Ability to design and/or use donor/customer databases for analysis and reporting.

  • Good understanding of the donor landscape in Hong Kong, China.

  • Strong presentation, networking, and communication skills; proactive and self-motivated.

  • Skilled in negotiation and influencing.

  • Business development and relationship management expertise.

  • Computer literacy, including CRM database experience and strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, email, and calendar tools.

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional structure.

  • Proficiency in both written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) and English.

  • Based in Hong Kong. Willingness to travel within the Chinese mainland and internationally (up to 15%).
